When the House Is Loud and the Soul Is Tired

"Be still, and know that I am God."
Psalm 46:10

Some seasons of motherhood and marriage do not afford silence. The dishwasher hums, the toddler cries, the phone buzzes — and your soul is asked to find God in all of it.

Stillness is a posture before it is a place. It is the small interior bow that says, 'You are God and I am not, and that is good news today.'

He is not waiting for you in some quieter version of your life. He is here. In this kitchen. In this carpool. In this exact, beautiful loud.

A Prayer

Lord, in the middle of the noise, quiet my soul. Remind me that You are God of the loud days too. Amen.

For Reflection
  • Where am I waiting for quiet before I worship?
  • What would it look like to be still inside today, even if outside cannot be?
